Sri Lanka’s president will make a state visit to India on December 15 and 17 of that year

The newly elected President of Sri Lanka, H.E. Mr. Anura Kumara Disanayaka, will travel to India on a State Visit from December 15 to December 17 in 2024. Following Sri Lanka’s new presidential and parliamentary elections, his second bilateral visit to India highlights the strong and lasting ties between the two countries.

President Disanayaka may meet with senior American officials at high levels during his visit. He will join with Rashtrapati Ji, meet with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, and discuss diplomatic issues of mutual interest, regional stability, economic cohesion, and cultural ties.

A firm event in New Delhi is scheduled for the President to promote India and Sri Lanka’s investment and business partnerships. Secondly, he will visit Bodh Gaya, a sacred site for Sri Lanka and a pilgrimage site, to show how close ties exist between the two nations were as a result of their centuries-long civil wars.

As India’s closest maritime neighbor in the Indian Ocean Region( IOR), Sri Lanka is crucial to India’s strategic plan. The visit aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s “Security and Development for All in the Place” program and “Neighbourhood First” plan, which emphasize regional security, cooperation, and shared wealth.

With possible advancements in business, purchase, social change, and proper cooperation, President Disanayaka’s visit is anticipated to strengthen the multi-dimensional and mutually beneficial partnership between India and Sri Lanka.

India’s unwavering commitment to maintaining its partnership with Sri Lanka, which is reflected in the region’s shared vision of development and security, is reiterated by New Delhi’s announcement.
