India's External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar visited Denmark on May 20-21, 2025, where he held extensive talks with senior government officials to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.
During his visit, Dr. Jaishankar called on Prime Minister H.E. Ms. Mette Frederiksen, briefing her on the developments in the Green Strategic Partnership between India and Denmark. The discussion also touched upon regional and international issues of mutual interest. Dr. Jaishankar conveyed India's deep appreciation for Denmark's solidarity and support in combating terrorism.
The External Affairs Minister also met with Speaker of the Danish Parliament H.E. Mr. Søren Gade, discussing ways to strengthen parliamentary exchanges and people-to-people ties between the two nations. Additionally, Dr. Jaishankar held a detailed meeting with Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Lars Løkke Rasmussen, reviewing bilateral relations in depth and exchanging views on regional and global issues.
The two Ministers agreed to maintain close contact during Denmark's ongoing membership of the United Nations Security Council for the term 2025-2026. Furthermore, Dr. Jaishankar met with Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs H.E. Mr. Morten Bødskov, discussing avenues for enhanced trade and investment relations between India and Denmark.
The meeting with representatives of the vibrant Indian community in Denmark concluded Dr. Jaishankar's visit to Copenhagen, as he emphasized the importance of fostering people-to-people ties between the two nations.
