India's Foreign Secretary, Shri Vikram Misri, visited Tokyo, Japan on May 22, 2025, to meet with senior officials of the Japanese government. The two-day visit aimed to further strengthen bilateral ties between India and Japan, covering various key areas such as political relations, defense and security, economic cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.
During his meetings, Foreign Secretary Misri discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest with National Security Advisor of Japan, Mr. Masataka Okano, and Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hiroyuki Namazu. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in areas such as counter-terrorism and disaster management.
Foreign Secretary Misri also addressed the 2nd edition of the Raisina Tokyo Dialogue, an annual event organized by the Observer Research Foundation, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, and Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives). In his keynote address, he emphasized India's commitment to regional peace and security, and expressed appreciation for Japan's support following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
The visit marked a significant moment in the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership, which aims to deepen cooperation between the two nations.
