India and the United Kingdom held high-level consultations on disarmament and non-proliferation in New Delhi on February 4, 2025, reaffirming their shared commitment to global security, arms control, and responsible defense policies.
Key Areas of Discussion
The consultations focused on nuclear, chemical, and biological non-proliferation, as well as emerging security challenges in outer space and artificial intelligence (AI) in military applications. The Indian delegation was led by Ms. Muanpuii Saiawi, Joint Secretary (Disarmament and International Security Affairs), Ministry of External Affairs, while the UK delegation was headed by Mr. Stephen Lillie, Director for Defence and International Security at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
The discussions reinforced India and the UK’s strong strategic engagement in global security forums, aligning with their long-standing diplomatic collaboration in multilateral organizations such as the United Nations and the Conference on Disarmament.
