At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the King of Bhutan, undertook a special visit to India from February 3 to February 4, 2025. The visit, centered around attending the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, highlighted the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual connections between India and Bhutan.

During his stay, the Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel, hosted a formal dinner in honor of His Majesty. Additionally, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended a warm welcome to the Bhutanese King and accompanied him to the sacred city of Prayagraj, where he participated in the Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the world’s largest spiritual gatherings.
