At the invitation of India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, the President of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), H.E. Mr. Philemon Yang, will embark on an official visit to India from February 4 to February 7, 2025. Mr. Yang, who previously served as the Prime Minister of Cameroon, assumed the presidency of the UNGA on September 10, 2024.
Under his leadership, the United Nations adopted “A Pact for the Future,” a strategic vision document aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation to address global challenges effectively.
Key Discussions and Engagements
During his visit, Mr. Yang will hold high-level discussions with Dr. Jaishankar on pressing multilateral and regional issues of mutual interest. Additionally, he will pay a courtesy visit to the Hon’ble President of India, highlighting India’s commitment to global diplomacy and cooperation within the United Nations framework.
Apart from official meetings in New Delhi, Mr. Yang will also travel to Bengaluru, where he is scheduled to visit Infosys and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). These engagements will offer him insights into India’s advancements in digital public infrastructure, sustainable technologies, and scientific innovation.
