The Ministry of External Affairs has announced that Shri Pabitra Margherita, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, will lead a delegation to participate in the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair on April 18-19, 2025, at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This visit is part of the ASEAN-India Tourism Professionals Exchange Programme 2025.
As per the plan, the event aims to showcase India's tourism potential with a special focus on North-East India, in collaboration with Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) under the ASEAN-India Fund. The MATTA Fair will provide an opportunity for Indian tour operators and tourism professionals to connect with their Malaysian counterparts, further strengthening bilateral ties in the tourism sector.
During her visit, Minister Margherita is expected to have bilateral engagements and interactions with prominent leaders of businesses and members of the Indian community in Malaysia. This exchange program is significant as it marks the ASEAN-India Year of Tourism 2025, which was designated at last year's 21st ASEAN-India Summit.
The event will also serve as a platform for India to promote its unique tourism experiences, highlighting the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of North-East India. The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair is one of the largest and most prominent tourism events in Southeast Asia, providing a crucial opportunity for Indian tourists to explore Malaysia.
The Ministry of External Affairs will continue to support initiatives that promote people-to-people exchanges between India and ASEAN countries, further strengthening economic and cultural ties.
