Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, Jose W. Fernandez, will travel to Panama from December 15-16, 2024, to attend a meeting of the Alliance for Development in Democracy (ADD). During his visit, Under Secretary Fernandez will engage with trade ministers, senior officials, members of the ADD Business Council, and representatives from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to discuss economic cooperation and ways to strengthen regional supply chains.
In addition to his participation in the ADD meeting, Under Secretary Fernandez will hold discussions with Panamanian government officials on enhancing collaboration in sectors such as semiconductors, logistics, and maritime operations. He will also meet with business leaders to encourage U.S. investment and trade diversification, particularly in key areas like medical devices and pharmaceuticals. This trip underscores the U.S.’s commitment to fostering economic growth and strengthening partnerships throughout the region.
