The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Anis Matta, has called for peace and stability in Syria following the collapse of President Bashar al-Assad’s government on December 8, 2024. Speaking from Jakarta, Matta emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while expressing hope for a brighter future for the Syrian people.

“We hope the Syrian people can begin a new and better life,” Matta stated during a press briefing on December 9.
