Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to Embark on State Visit to India

The President of the Republic of Singapore, H.E. Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, is set to undertake a state visit to India from January 14-18, 2025. This marks his first visit to India as the President of Singapore, and he will be accompanied by a high-level delegation including senior ministers, members of parliament, and officials.

During the visit, President Tharman will receive a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan on January 16, 2025. Key engagements will include discussions with Indian President Smt. Droupadi Murmu, who will also host a state banquet in his honor. The President of Singapore is expected to meet with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, along with other prominent Indian dignitaries.

The state visit will also include a trip to Odisha from January 17-18, 2025, further strengthening the bilateral ties between the two nations.

India and Singapore share a long-standing relationship based on mutual respect, friendship, and trust. President Tharman’s visit is expected to build on this foundation and provide new momentum to the partnership, especially after the elevation of their bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Singapore in September 2024.

The visit will also kick off celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Singapore, a milestone that reflects the deep and enduring ties between the two nations.
