The second edition of the international conference “Purvodaya Perspectives”, which was held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on December 14, 2024, was themed” Reclaiming India’s Maritime Heritage: Perspectives, Prospects, and Prognosis. “The Energy Forum( TEF), which is supported by the Ministry of External Affairs( MEA), and the Indian government, is organizing the two-day event as part of India’s ongoing foreign policy outreach efforts.
The keynote address was delivered by Shri Jaideep Mazumdar, MEA’s Secretary (East), underscoring how crucial a maritime economy is in maximizing India’s eastern seaboard states ‘economic potential, including Odisha. Under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Indo-Pacific vision, SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region), he emphasized India’s renewed focus on maritime connectivity and economic growth.
Policymakers, seafaring experts, academics, and leaders in the Indian and international industries all come together to discuss India’s rich maritime history and its relevance in modern times. The discussions address enhancing regional business, promoting coastal cooperation, and exploring financial opportunities through India’s eastern coastline and Indo-Pacific partnerships.
The initiative “Purvodaya Perspectives” emphasizes Odisha’s strategic location along the Bay of Bengal, reaffirming its significance as a key contributor to the development of sea industry, cultural contacts, and infrastructure.
