The inaugural Kochi Dialogue 2025, a pioneering Track 1.5 dialogue on India’s relations with the Gulf region, will take place from January 16-17, 2025, in Kochi, Kerala. This unique initiative is organized by the Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR), a prominent Kochi-based think tank, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
The theme of the event, “India’s Look West Policy in Action: People, Prosperity, and Progress,” reflects its focus on deepening ties with the Gulf region. The dialogue aims to foster meaningful discussions and actionable insights to advance bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Policymakers, industry leaders, and domain experts from India and member nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will deliberate on five key areas:
- Trade, Economy, and Investments: Exploring opportunities for economic integration and business partnerships.
- Maritime Strategic Partnerships: Strengthening cooperation in maritime security and regional stability.
- Education, Healthcare, and Technology: Promoting collaboration in cutting-edge fields and societal well-being.
- Diaspora Connect: Highlighting the contributions of the Indian diaspora and enhancing their role as cultural and economic bridges.
- Energy Cooperation and Innovation: Addressing traditional energy trade and emerging technologies in renewable energy.
By bringing together influential stakeholders, the Kochi Dialogue seeks to chart a roadmap for a more integrated and prosperous future between India and the Gulf. The event underscores the pivotal role of Kerala, which has long-standing historical and cultural ties with the Gulf region, as a hub for such vital conversations.
