India and Tanzania reinforced their counter-terrorism partnership during the 2nd meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on Counter Terrorism, held on February 12-13, 2025, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This high-level engagement focused on emerging security threats, terrorism financing, and intelligence sharing, further deepening bilateral cooperation in security and law enforcement.
High-Level Participation and Key Discussions
The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. K.D. Dewal, Joint Secretary for Counter Terrorism, Ministry of External Affairs, India, and Dr. Maduhu I. Kazi, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Tanzania. Representatives from multiple security, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies from both nations participated in the discussions.

🔹 Conducting joint training programs and technical assistance initiatives
🔹 Strengthening Tanzania’s forensic capabilities with Indian expertise
Strategic Security Collaboration
The Indian delegation also visited the Police Forensic Bureau (PFB) of Tanzania, discussing ways to enhance forensic analysis and investigative capacity through structured training and resource-sharing with Indian forensic agencies.
Both sides agreed to continue bilateral and multilateral cooperation to combat terrorism, cyber threats, and transnational crime. The next India-Tanzania JWG meeting will be hosted in New Delhi, with dates to be decided through mutual consultation.
This strengthened counter-terrorism engagement underscores the growing India-Tanzania security partnership, reinforcing shared commitments to regional and global peace.
