India and Switzerland reaffirmed their strong bilateral partnership during the 13th round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) held on February 13, 2025, in New Delhi. The high-level discussions covered a wide range of bilateral, multilateral, and regional issues, emphasizing deeper economic cooperation, sustainable development, and technological advancements.
High-Level Representation & Strategic Discussions
The Indian delegation was led by Shri Tanmaya Lal, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, while the Swiss side was headed by Mr. Alexandre Fasel, State Secretary, Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
Both sides reviewed the full spectrum of India-Switzerland relations, with a focus on trade, investment, climate action, digital transformation, and mobility.

🔹 Reviewed progress on the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA)
🔹 Discussed the role of the new EFTA-dedicated desk at Invest India, a key step for TEPA implementation
🔹 Explored opportunities for expanding bilateral trade and investment in high-growth sectors
2️⃣ Innovation, Technology & Sustainability
🔹 Highlighted the India-Swiss Innovation Platform’s impact on fostering tech-driven collaborations
🔹 Explored emerging sectors such as digitization, artificial intelligence (AI), and quantum computing
🔹 Agreed to renew the 2019 MoU on Climate Change & Environment Cooperation to strengthen sustainability efforts
3️⃣ Strengthening Mobility & Connectivity
🔹 Discussed enhancements in air services agreements to boost connectivity
🔹 Explored new initiatives to facilitate mobility for skilled professionals, researchers, and entrepreneurs
Shared Vision for the Future
The consultations reflected the mutual commitment of India and Switzerland to strengthening political, economic, and technological partnerships. Both countries agreed to continue working closely on multilateral platforms and to convene the next round of Foreign Office Consultations at a mutually convenient date.
