India and Mexico Strengthen Bilateral Ties Amidst G7 Summit

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met with President of Mexico, H.E. Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Canada, marking a significant moment in bilateral relations between the two nations.

The historic meeting saw Prime Minister congratulating President Sheinbaum on her victory and expressing appreciation for the support extended by Mexico in India's fight against terrorism. The leaders highlighted the historical bonds of friendship between India and Mexico, agreeing to work towards further expanding ties in trade, investment, start-ups, innovation, science and technology, and automotive sector.

The two countries discussed the growing opportunities offered by near-shoring, with a focus on the pharmaceutical sector where India can play an important role in supplying and producing affordable quality medicines. They also explored collaboration in agricultural and holistic health areas.

President Sheinbaum was appreciative of India's strides in technology, innovation, and digital public infrastructure, expressing desire for cooperation in these areas. The leaders noted upcoming engagements between the think-tank communities of the two sides, as well as vibrant cultural and people-to-people ties that will promote tourism flows.

The meeting also touched upon pressing global and regional issues, with the priorities of the Global South being a key focus point. Prime Minister fondly recalled his visit to Mexico in 2016, extending an invitation to President Sheinbaum to visit India.

The gathering marked a significant milestone in bilateral relations between India and Mexico, paving the way for future cooperation in various sectors.
