The Government of India has declared a Pakistani official persona non grata for engaging in activities not in keeping with his official status in the country. The official, identified as the Charge d’Affaires at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, was issued a demarche to this effect today.
According to sources, the official was asked to leave India within 24 hours and strictly ensure that none of the Pakistani diplomats or officials in India misuse their privileges and status. This decision comes after an investigation revealed that the official had been engaging in activities contrary to his official duties.
The move is seen as a response to concerns over Pakistan's diplomats and officials operating beyond their sanctioned roles in India. The Government of India has taken measures in the past to address similar issues, and this latest development marks another step in maintaining the country's diplomatic protocols.
India’s decision highlights the ongoing tensions between the two nations, with issues such as border disputes and security concerns continuing to be a point of contention.
