US Secretary of State Meets with Russian Official

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit to Moscow ended on a tense note, but the talks between him and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov did not yield any significant breakthroughs. However, the two sides were able to agree on some minor points.

During the meeting, which took place at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretary Blinken reiterated the US position that Russia's actions in Ukraine are unacceptable and must be stopped. He also emphasized the importance of a ceasefire and an end to hostilities.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, on the other hand, maintained that Russia was willing to engage in negotiations with Ukraine and the West, but only if they were based on mutual respect and non-aggression.

In a statement after the meeting, Secretary Blinken said that while the US was willing to engage in negotiations with Russia, it would not tolerate any further aggression towards Ukraine or other countries in Europe.
