U.S. Ambassador to Promote Public-Private Collaboration in Asia-Pacific Economy

U.S. Senior Official for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ambassador Matthew Murray will be traveling to Japan and South Korea from May 5 to May 17, as part of the Second APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM2).

During his visit to Japan, Ambassador Murray will promote public-private collaboration, highlight U.S.-Japan economic security efforts, and engage with key APEC partners at Expo 2025 in Osaka. This trip aims to strengthen economic ties between the two countries and advance shared interests.

Ambassador Murray's visit to Japan takes place from May 5 to May 11, and he will also attend various meetings with senior government officials, business leaders, and other stakeholders from across the Asia-Pacific region.

Following his visit to Japan, Ambassador Murray will travel to Jeju, South Korea, from May 11 to May 17, for SOM2 and Related Meetings of the APEC Korea 2025 host year. The United States is expected to continue leveraging APEC to advance America First Foreign, Trade, and Investment Policies, in collaboration with senior government officials, business leaders, and other stakeholders from across the Asia-Pacific region.

The Second Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM2) is an important platform for APEC member economies to discuss key issues and strengthen regional cooperation. Ambassador Murray's participation in SOM2 marks a significant effort by the United States to engage with its APEC partners on economic security, trade, and investment policies.
