Targeted Sanctions Impose Maximum Pressure on Iran’s Nuclear Program

The United States has imposed new sanctions targeting five entities and one individual in Iran that support key components of the country's nuclear program, including the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and the AEOI-subordinate Iran Centrifuge Technology Company (TESA).

This action, announced on April 9, 2025, is part of President Trump's maximum pressure campaign on Iran aimed at disrupting its proliferation-sensitive uranium enrichment activities. The sanctions will hold accountable those who seek to support Iran's nuclear program.

The Department of the Treasury has taken this action pursuant to Executive Order 13382, which targets proliferators of weapons of mass destruction and their supporters. The targeted entities include those that procure or manufacture critical technologies for TESA and AEOI, further highlighting the administration's commitment to countering Iran's nuclear ambitions.

By imposing these sanctions, the United States demonstrates its unwavering resolve to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. The Treasury Department will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt Iranian efforts to obtain and proliferate sensitive technologies.
