Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani during a visit to Washington, D.C., where they discussed the key aspects of their strategic partnership.
The meeting focused on close security cooperation between the two countries, as well as their shared commitment to safeguarding maritime security and freedom of navigation in the face of Houthi threats. The U.S.-Bahrain Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement and the Abraham Accords were also highlighted as platforms for joint deterrence, diplomacy, security, and regional integration.
Rubio and Al Zayani emphasized their countries' support for greater security and stability in the Middle East. They also touched upon the valued trade relationship between the U.S. and Bahrain, including continued economic engagement in emerging technologies.
