In a gesture of appreciation for his tireless efforts in promoting Thai-Hungarian relations, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, hosted a farewell luncheon on 25 June 2025 in honour of H.E. Mr. Sándor Sipos, Ambassador of Hungary to the Kingdom of Thailand upon his completion of duty.
The occasion marked the culmination of the Ambassador's nearly three-year tenure in Thailand, during which he successfully strengthened ties between the two nations across various sectors, including trade and investment, education, agriculture, science and technology, water resource management, tourism, and the establishment of the Hungarian-Thai Chamber of Commerce to promote business relations and people-to-people exchanges.
During the farewell luncheon, the Permanent Secretary expressed her gratitude to Ambassador Sipos for his dedication in fostering cooperation between Thailand and Hungary. The Prime Minister's representative also acknowledged the Ambassador's role in organizing events commemorating significant milestones, such as the 50th anniversary of Thailand-Hungary diplomatic relations, and for his patronage of the Young Ambassadors of Virtue Foundation (YAVF).
In return, Ambassador Sipos expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm welcome he received during his tenure in Thailand. He noted that the two nations have developed a stronger relationship under their mutual understanding and respect, leading to increased collaboration in areas such as trade, education, and cultural exchange.
The farewell luncheon served as an opportunity for the Thai government to demonstrate its commitment to nurturing strong bilateral ties with Hungary, a key partner in regional and international affairs. The event also underscored Thailand's dedication to promoting peaceful cooperation and mutual understanding among nations.
This gesture of appreciation highlights the significance of diplomatic efforts in fostering global relations and cooperation. As Thailand continues to navigate an increasingly complex world, its engagement in international diplomacy remains a vital component of its foreign policy strategy.
