Prime Minister Narendra Modi departs on a significant six-day diplomatic tour to France and the United States from February 10 to 15, 2025, aimed at strengthening India’s strategic partnerships, fostering technological collaboration, and enhancing global cooperation in key sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), energy, defense, and trade.

France Visit (February 10–12, 2025): AI Action Summit and Strategic Talks

At the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Modi will visit France from February 10 to 12, 2025, where he will co-chair the AI Action Summit in Paris—a high-profile gathering of world leaders, tech CEOs, and AI experts. The summit will focus on developing a global framework for artificial intelligence that ensures inclusive, secure, and responsible AI-driven innovation.

During the bilateral discussions, the leaders will review the progress of the India-France strategic partnership under the 2047 Horizon Roadmap, focusing on key areas such as:

  • Defense and security cooperation
  • Nuclear energy collaboration
  • Trade and investment partnerships
  • Space exploration and technology transfer

A major highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of the first Indian Consulate in France, located in the historic city of Marseille. Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will also visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project, a global nuclear fusion initiative where India and France are key partners in advancing sustainable energy solutions.

The Prime Minister will also pay homage to Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War I and World War II at the Mazargues War Cemetery.

United States Visit (February 13–15, 2025): Strengthening India-US Global Strategic Partnership

Following his visit to France, Prime Minister Modi will travel to the United States from February 13 to 15, 2025, at the invitation of President Donald Trump. This visit will mark their first official meeting since President Trump’s second-term inauguration in January 2025.

Recalling their strong partnership during Trump’s first term, Prime Minister Modi emphasized his commitment to further elevating Indo-US relations, particularly in the areas of:

  • Technology and innovation
  • Defense and security cooperation
  • Trade and investment growth
  • Energy collaboration and supply chain resilience
