India has taken another step towards enhancing passport accessibility for its citizens with the inauguration of its 450th Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh. The event was attended by key dignitaries from the government and Parliament, marking a significant milestone in the Ministry of External Affairs' efforts to expand passport services nationwide.
The POPSK initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of External Affairs and the Department of Posts, aimed at bringing passport services closer to citizens. With this latest addition, India now boasts 543 passport service centers across the country, including 450 POPSKs and 93 Passport Seva Kendras under 37 Passport Offices.
The inauguration of the 450th POPSK serves as a testament to the Ministry's objective of establishing passport service centers in every Lok Sabha constituency. Kushinagar, known for its rich history and spiritual significance, was chosen for this milestone event. The location is steeped in history and spirituality, where Lord Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana.
The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries from Parliament, including members of the Indian Parliament and senior officers from the Ministry of External Affairs and Department of Post. The presence of these key figures underscores the significance of this initiative and its alignment with the Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision of good governance.
This development is expected to improve passport accessibility for rural areas, enhancing the overall citizen experience. As India continues to expand its passport service network, it demonstrates its commitment to providing inclusive and accessible services to its citizens nationwide.
