The second Bihamasahanka Samachara or BIMSTEC Ports Conclave was held in Visakhapatnam on July 14-15, 2025. The two-day event aimed to explore ways to strengthen maritime cooperation and promote sustainable development in the region. The conclave’s theme, “Navigating the Future: Blue Economy, Innovation and Sustainable Partnerships,” was set against the backdrop of India’s Neighbourhood First policy, which seeks to foster close ties with its neighboring countries.

The conclave was inaugurated by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, the Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, in the presence of delegations from BIMSTEC member states, comprising officials, maritime experts, port authorities, private sector leaders, and regional development partners. The event saw a wide range of discussions on various issues such as harmonizing customs procedures, enhancing logistical links to boost intra-regional trade, and exploring opportunities for cruise tourism.
