NEW DELHI, MARCH 20, 2025 – The Indian government hosted the eighth India-EU Cyber Dialogue on March 20, 2025, in New Delhi. The dialogue was attended by high-level officials from both sides, including Mr. Amit Shukla, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs' Cyber Diplomacy Division, and co-chairs Mr. Maciej Stadejek and Ms. Christiane Kirketerp de Viron from the European Union.
The Indian delegation comprised representatives from various government ministries, including the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Telecom, CERT-In, and the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Center (NCIIPC). The EU side was represented by officials from the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the EU Delegation to India.
During the dialogue, both sides reviewed the current cyber threat landscape and exchanged views on recent developments in cyber policies, security standards, and protection of critical information infrastructure. They also discussed cooperation on standardizing 6G technologies, security standards for telecom equipment, and joint capacity building activities.
Cybersecurity cooperation was a key focus of the dialogue, as stated in the Joint Statement issued during the visit of the President of the European Commission and EU College of Commissioners to India in February 2025. The eighth India-EU Cyber Dialogue built upon the discussions held earlier on cyber and digital technologies during that visit.
The Indian government has been strengthening its cybersecurity capabilities in recent years, with a focus on protecting critical information infrastructure and promoting cooperation with international partners. The EU, meanwhile, has established a robust framework for cybersecurity policy and cooperation, which includes regular dialogue with key partner countries like India.
The Eighth India-EU Cyber Dialogue demonstrates the commitment of both sides to addressing the growing challenges posed by cyber threats and promoting cooperation in this critical area. By strengthening their partnership, India and the EU aim to enhance global cybersecurity resilience and ensure a safe and secure digital environment for all.
