In a statement released on 22 Mar 2025, the Cambodia Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has announced its support for the 8th edition of the prestigious ASEAN Prize 2025. The prize, recognised as the region's premier award, aims to honour outstanding individuals and organisations across ASEAN for their exemplary contributions towards fostering an inclusive and outward-looking ASEAN Community.
The announcement comes as the search for the most exceptional ASEAN citizen or organisation with outstanding contribution to ASEAN Community building efforts is now open until 16 May 2025. Eligible applicants must be an ASEAN citizen or an ASEAN-based organisation, and their achievements should highlight their future initiatives detailing how the cited work will continue after winning the Prize.
The ASEAN Prize serves as a testament to the region’s resolute commitment to celebrate and honor significant efforts of individuals and organisations who have made steadfast contributions to the development of a resilient ASEAN Community. Since its inauguration in 2018, a total of four individuals and three organisations have been awarded with the ASEAN Prize.
The prize is presented at the 47" ASEAN Summit under Malaysia's Chairmanship, along with a monetary award of US$20,000, in partnership with the Temasek Foundation of Singapore. The Judging Committee Meeting for ASEAN Prize will convene round of intensive assessments to select this year's recipient, comprising both former and current Secretaries-General of ASEAN.
Cambodia has been actively involved in regional affairs through various multilateral initiatives, including the ASEAN Political-Security Community Division, under which it plays a crucial role in promoting socio-cultural cooperation. The country is also an active participant in ASEAN economic integration efforts, striving to strengthen economic links with its neighbours and foster greater regional connectivity.
With the ASEAN Prize 2025 nomination process now open, eligible applicants are encouraged to submit their applications through the National Focal Points of the respective ASEAN Member State by 16 May 2025. Nomination calls start on 3 March 2025
The nominee must be an ASEAN citizen or an ASEAN-based organisation.
Submissions must be made through the National Focal Points of the respective ASEAN Member State from 3 March to 16 May 2025.
Applicants are required to submit a completed A Pri nomination form, providing comprehensive details and highlighting the nominee's achievement and influence on ASEAN since the launch of the ASEAN Community on 31 December 2015.
