In a statement released on 17 Jun 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced that Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will lead a high-level delegation to pay an official visit to the Republic of Singapore from 18" to 19" June 2024.
During the two-day trip, Samdech Thipadei will hold bilateral talks with His Excellency Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of Singapore, focusing on ways to deepen their bilateral relations and expand multifaceted cooperation. The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest and concern. The meeting is expected to be a significant step towards strengthening the Cambodia-Singapore relationship, as the two countries are set to celebrate the 60" anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year.
The visit is also seen as an opportunity for Samdech Thipadei to strengthen ties with key regional leaders, including His Excellency President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and His Excellency Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The Prime Minister will have separate courtesy calls with these dignitaries, allowing for in-depth discussions on regional issues and areas of cooperation.
In addition to the bilateral talks, Samdech Thipadei will also attend and deliver a keynote address at the Cambodia-Singapore Business Forum, which will be joined by representatives from the government and other relevant stakeholders. The forum aims to promote business opportunities between Cambodia and Singapore, highlighting the potential for mutual growth and development.
During his visit, Samdech Thipadei will also have the opportunity to engage with key industries in Singapore, including technology and infrastructure. He will visit the Nanyang Polytechnic and its Centre of Innovation for Electronics & Internet of Things as well as the Keppel Infrastructure@Changi building, where he will be briefed on innovative projects and initiatives.
The official visit is also expected to mark the launch of several cooperation documents, including the Financial Transparency Corridor Project. This project aims to promote financial transparency and cooperation between Cambodia and Singapore, in line with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) principles.
