The Brazilian government has announced a significant milestone in expanding its agricultural trade with Egypt. The Egyptian government has officially accepted a new sanitary certificate model that permits Brazil to export buffalo meat and offal to Egypt. The new sanitary certificate model, which includes beef as well as buffalo meat, is a vital achievement for Brazil’s agricultural sector, further opening Egyptian markets to a wider range of Brazilian products. In the first ten months of the year, Egypt imported over $2.59 billion worth of agricultural products from Brazil, highlighting the growing importance of this trade relationship.
Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) jointly celebrated the announcement, emphasizing its significance for the country’s agricultural export strategy.
“This agreement is a clear testament to the continued strengthening of Brazil-Egypt trade relations and the growing demand for high-quality Brazilian agricultural products in international markets,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira.
The Ministry of Agriculture also welcomed the news, noting that this is a continuation of Brazil’s broader strategy to diversify and expand its export destinations, which has resulted in substantial growth in the country’s agricultural export market.
A Record Year for Market Openings
The announcement comes as Brazil continues to expand its global agricultural footprint. With this latest development, Brazil has now reached 208 market openings in 2024 alone, bringing the total number of market openings to 286 across 62 countries since the beginning of 2023.
