In a move to further solidify ties between the two nations, His Excellency Bendito dos Santos Freitas, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, will pay an official visit to Cambodia from April 3 to 4, 2025. The visit is at the invitation of His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
During his stay, Minister Freitas will pay a courtesy call on Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. He will also hold bilateral talks with Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn to explore new avenues to further strengthen and expand cooperation in all areas of common interests. The upcoming visit is seen as an opportunity for both countries to reaffirm their commitment to enhancing existing relations and cooperation for mutual benefits of the two peoples.
The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste have a long history of strong diplomatic ties, with both nations prioritizing regional cooperation and collaboration within ASEAN. As members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Cambodia and Timor-Leste share common interests in promoting peace, stability, and economic growth in the region.
The visit is also expected to foster increased bilateral relations in areas such as trade, investment, and infrastructure development. Both countries have expressed interest in enhancing cooperation in these sectors, which are seen as key drivers of economic growth and development in the region.
