Foreign Minister meets with German Regional Director



INFORMATION NOTE || Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd today received a courtesy call from Her Excellency Ambassador Marian Schuegraf, Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Federal Foreign Office of Germany. The Regional Director was accompanied by Her Excellency Ute König, non-resident Ambassador of Germany to Guyana.

During the meeting, Minister Todd and Ambassador Schuegraf discussed several areas of mutual interests at the bilateral, regional and multilateral levels. Minister Todd also briefed Ambassador Schuegraf on the developmental priorities and initiatives of the Government of Guyana. Among the areas discussed were environment and the Low Carbon Development Strategy, health, infrastructure, education, ICT and agriculture.

Guyana and Germany established diplomatic relations on 02 September 1966, and have since maintained an active bilateral cooperation programme in a number of areas including sustainable development, climate change and education.
