India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar Visits Singapore

In a move to strengthen bilateral ties, India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar visited Singapore on July 13, 2025, marking the first high-level visit by an Indian minister in two years.

During his two-day trip, EAM met with several senior officials of the Singaporean government, including President of Singapore H.E. Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade & Industry H.E. Mr. Gan Kim Yong, and Minister for Foreign Affairs H.E. Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan.

The meetings with these officials allowed EAM to review the progress of outcomes from his visit to Singapore in 2023, as well as the second round of India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR), which focused on areas such as investments, industrial parks, semiconductors, infrastructure, skill development, and connectivity.

EAM also engaged in discussions with former Senior Minister & Coordinating Minister for National Security Mr. Teo Chee Hean, Chairman-designate of Temasek Holdings, focusing on India’s transformation journey and potential investment opportunities for Temasek in the country.

This visit is part of ongoing high-level exchanges between India and Singapore, highlighting the significance that New Delhi attaches to its relations with its strategic partner in Southeast Asia.

During his stay, EAM expressed India’s commitment to deepening ties with Singapore through increased cooperation on regional issues such as ASEAN, Indo-Pacific, and global developments.
