India and Honduras Strengthen Ties with Diplomatic Visit

India and Honduras have strengthened their diplomatic ties with a visit by the Honduran Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Eduardo Enrique Reina García. The visit, which took place from May 15 to 18, marked a significant milestone in the two countries' longstanding friendship.

During the visit, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Foreign Minister Reina García reviewed the full spectrum of India-Honduras relations, including political cooperation, trade and investment, development partnership, and cultural exchanges. The two ministers discussed potential areas of cooperation as Global South partners, focusing on health and digital sectors, capacity development, energy, and disaster response.

The visit also saw the joint inauguration of the newly established Embassy of Honduras in New Delhi by the two foreign ministers. This marked a new chapter in the friendly relations between India and Honduras, with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar congratulating the Government and people of Honduras on this occasion.

The opening of the Embassy of Honduras in New Delhi reflects Honduras' desire to deepen its ties with India. The embassy is expected to serve as a dynamic platform for collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, tourism, health, agriculture, and innovation.

The visit highlights India's increased focus on Latin America and the Caribbean region, with the opening of the Embassy marking a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
