The Government of Bangladesh has become the 54th signatory of the Artemis Accords, a set of principles guiding responsible space exploration. The signing took place at the 2025 Investor Summit in Dhaka on April 8, marking a significant step towards promoting regional security and economic development in the Indo-Pacific.
The United States and Bangladesh have enjoyed a long-standing partnership of over 50 years, with the US looking forward to continuing this cooperation to promote peaceful exploration and use of outer space. The Artemis Accords were established by seven countries, including the US, in 2020 as a set of practical principles to guide responsible space activity.
Bangladesh's signing of the Accords demonstrates its commitment to joining a growing coalition of countries that share a vision for peaceful exploration and use of outer space. The agreement brings together 53 other nations, including key players such as Australia, Canada, China, India, Japan, and the UK, in affirming the principles outlined by the US and NASA.
The Department of State and NASA lead the US's outreach and implementation efforts for the Accords, which aim to promote sustainable civil space activity. The signing is seen as a significant step forward in Bangladesh's international cooperation on space-related issues.
