Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Germany, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates from February 13 to 19, engaging in a series of critical diplomatic discussions aimed at strengthening U.S. foreign policy objectives and regional stability.
The first stop on his trip will be Munich, Germany, where Secretary Rubio will participate in the Munich Security Conference (MSC) on February 13-14. The MSC serves as one of the world’s most prominent forums on global security policy, bringing together top diplomats, military leaders, and foreign policy experts. During the conference, he will hold bilateral and multilateral discussions with international counterparts to reinforce America’s commitment to transatlantic security, the NATO alliance, and continued support for Ukraine. Additionally, Secretary Rubio will join G7 Foreign Ministers in a high-level meeting to coordinate strategies on pressing global challenges, including the war in Ukraine, economic resilience, and countering emerging security threats.
From February 15-19, Secretary Rubio will travel to Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE for key diplomatic engagements aimed at advancing regional peace efforts, countering threats from Iran and its proxies, and securing the release of American hostages still held by Hamas.
- In Israel, he will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior officials to discuss Israel’s security, the ongoing ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, and humanitarian assistance efforts. A major focus will be the transition into Phase II of the ceasefire agreement, ensuring stability while working toward a long-term resolution.
- In Saudi Arabia and the UAE, Secretary Rubio will engage with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, respectively, to further diplomatic efforts aimed at curbing Iran’s destabilizing activities in the region, strengthening defense partnerships, and enhancing economic cooperation. These discussions will also play a pivotal role in addressing the security concerns of Gulf allies and reaffirming U.S. leadership in regional stability.
The United States remains committed to fostering strong alliances, countering terrorism, and ensuring peace and security across both Europe and the Middle East. Secretary Rubio’s trip underscores the Biden administration’s unwavering resolve in tackling today’s most urgent geopolitical challenges.
