On February 19, 2025, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi to reaffirm the enduring strength of the U.S.-UAE strategic partnership. The discussions underscored the shared commitment to regional stability, economic collaboration, and technological advancement between the two nations.
During the meeting, Secretary Rubio expressed deep appreciation for the UAE’s pivotal role as a regional leader and a key ally of the United States. He highlighted the robust economic ties between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of continued investment and innovation across critical sectors, including energy, finance, and defense cooperation.
A significant portion of the discussions centered on the UAE’s advancements in cutting-edge technology, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing.
