Thailand Strongly Participates in Key UN Forum Ahead of UNGA80

In a statement released on 30 Jul 2025, Mr. Paisan Rupanichkij, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, chaired the second meeting of the 2025 Coordinating Committee on Issues Related to the United Nations, Other International Organizations and Foreign Organizations, at the Ministry.

The Committee discussed the participation of the Thai delegation at the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA80), to be held at the UN Headquarters, New York, from 23 September 2025 under the theme: “Better Together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights.” The meeting also considered Thailand’s positions on various issues and resolutions to be discussed at UNGA80, across the six main Committees of the General Assembly, namely : (1) Disarmament and International Security, (2) Economic and Financial, (3) Social, Humanitarian and Cultural, (4) Special Political and Decolonization, (5) Administrative and Budgetary and (6) Legal Issues; as well as the Plenary.

The Coordinating Committee, established by the Cabinet, comprises government agencies involved with UN and other international organizations. It coordinates Thailand’s positions on multilateral issues to ensure comprehensive, unified and aligned stances with national interests. The Committee meets twice a year to follow-up on important UN developments and deliberates on Thailand's stance within the UN framework.

Thailand's strong participation in UNGA80 reflects its commitment to promoting peace, development, and human rights globally. By engaging in these forums, Thailand seeks to enhance its international partnerships, foster dialogue among nations, and contribute to addressing pressing global challenges such as disarmament, economic growth, and social inequality.
