Title: Indonesia Reaffirms Commitment to Palestinian Cause at High-Level International Conference

In a significant diplomatic development, Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to the Palestinian people’s struggle for independence in its role as Co-chair of the Working Group on Security Issues at the High-Level International Conference on Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. The conference, which will be held at UN Headquarters in New York from July 28-30, 2025, marks a crucial step towards achieving sustainable peace in the Palestine-Israel conflict.

Indonesia’s involvement in the conference comes as part of its commitment to promoting international support for the deployment of Indonesian troops in the UN peacekeeping mission in Palestine. This mission aims to ensure security guarantees and stability in the region, aligning with Indonesia’s diplomatic priorities under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership.

At the Conference Preparatory Meeting on July 28, New York time, Indonesia and Italy presented concrete recommendations on the security issues of the Two-State Solution. The proposals, formulated after consultations with all UN member states, focus on establishing credible and equal security guarantees for both Israel and Palestine.

The first set of recommendations emphasizes promoting a permanent ceasefire, establishing a Palestinian transitional authority in Gaza, and creating a regional security architecture to build trust in the region. These concrete actions aim to empower the Palestinian Authority to manage security independently and assume responsibility in Gaza and the West Bank.

  1. Empowering the Palestinian Authority to manage security independently and assume responsibility in Gaza and the West Bank with the aim of advancing the reunification of Palestinian territories.
  2. Encouraging the strengthening of mutual trust to strengthen the capabilities of both countries in shouldering their shared responsibility for ensuring stability and security.

The conference also outlines the establishment of an international protection mechanism and the role of the UN, including a proposed Working Group to draft a resolution for the establishment of a UN Mission for the Stability of Gaza and a Monitoring Mission in the West Bank. These recommendations align with Indonesia’s commitment to ensuring security guarantees and supporting the Palestinian people’s struggle for independence.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir, who led the Indonesian Delegation at the conference, stated that “the various recommendations submitted by the Security Working Group align with Indonesia’s diplomatic priorities.”

Vice Minister Arrmanatha Nasir is scheduled to deliver Indonesia’s national statement on July 29, 2025. The conference officially opened on July 28, 2025, in the afternoon of New York time, and was chaired by the Saudi Arabian and French Foreign Ministers.

In conclusion, Indonesia’s reaffirmed commitment to the Palestinian cause underscores its role as a key player in promoting international support for peace and security in the Middle East. As the conference progresses, it remains to be seen how these recommendations will shape the future of the Palestine-Israel conflict.
