The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) has once again been awarded the prestigious title of “Informative Public Institution” in the 2024 Public Information Disclosure Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev KIP) program. The recognition was officially announced during the Public Information Disclosure Award Ceremony on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, where the Chairperson of the Central Information Commission (KIP) presented the accolade.
This marks the fifth consecutive year that Kemlu has earned the “Informative” designation, a testament to its unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability in public information management. Since 2020, the Ministry has consistently upheld its standards in providing timely, accurate, and accessible information to the public, reinforcing its role as a model institution for good governance.
Excellence in Transparency and Accountability
At the award ceremony, Siti Nugraha Mauludiah, the Director General for Information and Public Diplomacy at Kemlu, received the award on behalf of the Ministry. “We are committed to providing accurate, fast, and easily accessible public information services to all citizens. The principles of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity guide us in managing public information,” Mauludiah said, emphasizing the Ministry’s dedication to transparency.
In the 2024 evaluation, Kemlu achieved a score of 92 points, ranking 31st out of 369 public institutions nationwide in the Ministry category. This recognition highlights Kemlu’s sustained efforts to meet the high standards set by the KIP in managing public information, making it one of the most transparent government institutions in Indonesia.
Rigorous Evaluation Criteria
The Monev KIP program evaluates public institutions based on several criteria, including compliance with public information requests, updates to the Public Information Management and Documentation Officer (PPID) Portal, the completeness of the Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ), and the quality of presentations before KIP Commissioners. For Kemlu, achieving the “Informative” status involved ensuring all relevant data, such as policies, activities, and public services, was made transparent and accessible to the public through the PPID Portal.
Kemlu’s commitment to transparency extended beyond domestic operations. The Ministry also showcased its efforts to promote public information disclosure through Indonesian missions abroad, ensuring that Indonesian citizens and the international community could access essential information related to Indonesia’s foreign policies, diplomatic efforts, and consular services.
Building Public Trust Through Information Transparency
Kemlu’s achievement underscores the Ministry’s commitment to fostering trust with the public and enhancing its reputation as a key player in Indonesian diplomacy. By prioritizing transparency and accessibility, Kemlu not only strengthens its internal governance but also supports broader efforts to build public trust and improve diplomatic relations.
The “Informative Public Institution” award is part of Indonesia’s broader effort to ensure that government agencies operate in a manner that is transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of the public. As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to evolve, it remains dedicated to using public diplomacy and information transparency as essential tools for fostering positive relationships with citizens, foreign governments, and the global community.
