The Indonesian badminton team solidified its position as a powerhouse in the sport, clinching first place in the Group category at the FKK (Foo Kok Keong) Badminton International Cup Thailand 2025. The tournament, held on July 11-13, 2025, at Beat Discovery Sukhumvit 66/1 Udomsuk, Bangkok, saw Indonesia emerge victorious against Malaysia in a fiercely contested final.

The success was not limited to the Group category, as Indonesia also took top honors in the combined age category of 110 years and above. Pair Rionny Mainaky and Aman Santoso, representing Indonesia, defeated Thailand's top-seeded duo, Narong Vanichisarkul and Worapoj Somchariya, to emerge champions.

A unique aspect of this tournament was the involvement of Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, Rachmat Budiman, who competed alongside Indonesian shuttler Muhammad. The pair secured fourth place, showcasing concrete support for diaspora sporting activities and embodying Indonesia's sports diplomacy in Thailand.

The Indonesian team was bolstered by several national badminton legends, including Tri Kusharjanto, Chandra Wijaya, Hendra Setiawan, Tantowi Ahmad, Rionny Mainaky, Marleve Mainaky, Debby Susanto, and AY Santoso. These athletes delivered outstanding performances, serving as an inspiration to the next generation of Indonesian badminton athletes.

The FKK Badminton International Cup was initiated by Malaysia's legendary former badminton player Foo Kok Keong, designed as an international gathering and competition for senior and master badminton athletes from 10 countries: Australia, Singapore, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Japan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and France.

Indonesia's involvement in the event not only showcased its sporting prowess but also strengthened international friendships, promoted cultural exchange, and highlighted the spirit of sportsmanship that characterizes Indonesia's diplomacy. Since the tournament's inception, Indonesia has recorded 9 victories out of a total of 11 editions, demonstrating consistency and competitiveness on the global stage.

Through this tournament, the dedication and achievements of Indonesia's badminton legends shine brightly. As the team continues to bring honor to the nation on the international arena, it's clear that "once a champion, always a champion" is more than just a motto – it's a way of life for Indonesian badminton athletes.

With this impressive victory, Indonesia solidifies its position as a dominant force in the world of badminton. The team's achievements serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and a testament to the country's commitment to promoting sports diplomacy and cultural exchange.
