India and Japan Hold Third Joint Space Dialogue in Tokyo

The third India-Japan Space Dialogue took place on April 1, 2025, in Tokyo, bringing together high-level representatives from both countries to discuss their space policies and priorities. The Indian delegation was co-led by Ms. Muanpuii Saiawi, Joint Secretary of the Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division at the Ministry of External Affairs, and Mr. M. Ganesh Pillai, Scientific Secretary of ISRO, Department of Space.

The Japanese delegation was co-led by Mr. Saita Yukio, Assistant Minister/Ambassador in charge of Space Policy at the Foreign Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Kazeki Jun, Director General of the National Space Policy Secretariat at the Cabinet Office. The dialogue focused on exchanging views on national space programmes, bilateral space cooperation, space situational awareness, space security, Quad space cooperation, industry-level cooperation, and commercial space collaboration.

During the event, the Indian co-chairs visited JAXA's Tsukuba Space Center on March 31, 2025, which marked a significant step in strengthening their partnership. The dialogue was preceded by an industry cooperation event organized by IN-SPACe and Japan's Cabinet Office, attracting participation from representatives of Japanese and Indian companies and industry associations.

This third joint space dialogue marks an important milestone in the bilateral relationship between India and Japan, highlighting their commitment to advancing their space capabilities and exploring new opportunities for cooperation.
