The Republic of Chile will be represented by President Gabriel Boric Font in a highly anticipated State Visit to India from April 1 to 5, 2025. The visit is seen as an opportunity for the two countries to strengthen their bilateral ties and explore regional and international issues of mutual interest.
At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Boric will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Ministers, Members of Parliament, senior officials, business associations, media representatives, and prominent Chileans involved in the India-Chile cultural connect. This marks President Boric's first visit to India as head of state.
During his four-day visit, President Boric is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Modi on April 1, covering the entire gamut of India-Chile relations. The Prime Minister has promised a warm welcome, hosting a lunch in honour of the visiting dignitary.
President Boric will also engage in discussions with Hon'ble Rashtrapatiji Smt. Draupadi Murmu, who will host a banquet in his honour. This visit is seen as an opportunity for both leaders to review bilateral ties and address regional and international issues that are of mutual concern.
India's relations with Chile have traditionally been warm and friendly, with the two countries sharing common views on several international issues such as UNSC reforms, climate change, renewable energy, and terrorism. Chile has emerged as a crucial trading partner for India in the Latin American region.
President Boric will also meet with political leadership, business representatives, startups, innovators, and tech leaders in Mumbai and Bengaluru, providing an opportunity for both sides to explore new avenues of cooperation.
The State Visit is expected to provide a significant boost to bilateral relations between India and Chile, as well as enhance understanding on regional and international issues.
