The second round of India-Iran-Armenia Trilateral Consultations took place in New Delhi on December 12, 2024, marking a significant step forward in the strategic partnership among the three nations. The Indian delegation was led by Shri J.P. Singh, Joint Secretary of the PAI Division, Ministry of External Affairs. Iran was represented by H.E. Mr. Hashem Ashja’ Zadeh, Director General of the South Asia Division, and Armenia by H.E. Ms. Anahit Karapetyan, Head of the Asia-Pacific Department.
Connectivity at the Core
Building on the success of the first round held in Yerevan in April 2023, the consultations focused on enhancing regional connectivity. Particular emphasis was laid on the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and the pivotal role of Iran’s Chabahar Port in bolstering trade routes between South Asia, Central Asia, and beyond. Armenia shared updates on its “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, aimed at transforming the nation into a vital transit hub connecting diverse regions.
Multilateral Cooperation and Regional Developments
The three sides reviewed their engagement in multilateral platforms and exchanged views on regional developments. Discussions extended to fostering partnerships in trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges.
