India Strengthens Regional Cooperation on Climate Action
The BIMSTEC Young Leaders’ Climate Change Conference, a first-of-its-kind youth-led initiative focused on tackling climate change in the Bay of Bengal region, successfully concluded in New Delhi on February 24, 2025. The conference, held from February 20-24, 2025, was organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in collaboration with Bharat Scouts and Guides, bringing together young climate advocates from across seven BIMSTEC member countries.
Empowering Youth for Climate Action
The conference was inaugurated by Shri Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary (East), MEA, with special addresses by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports of India, and Shri Indra Mani Pandey, Secretary General, BIMSTEC.
🌏 Over 150 young leaders from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand participated in discussions on climate change mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development.

This conference aligns with India’s “Neighborhood First” policy, “Act East” policy, and the “Security & Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR)” vision. The event reaffirmed India’s commitment to fostering climate action and regional cooperation within the BIMSTEC framework.
