"With this funding, our partners will be able to scale up their efforts to help people in urgent need. We call for an end to the violence in Lebanon and for all parties to respect their obligations under international humanitarian law."
The funding will support the delivery of critical assistance, including food, medical and health services, shelter, and clean water, through experienced humanitarian partners such as the United Nations, the Red Cross, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Canada's support is based on needs identified in consolidated UN and Red Cross appeals.
In addition to providing financial assistance, Canada continues to call for all parties to respect the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire agreement, ensure a complete cessation of hostilities, and uphold international humanitarian law. The government also emphasizes the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2286, which aims to protect humanitarian and medical personnel and allow them to continue delivering life-saving assistance.
