March 10, 2025 – The Brazilian Government expressed deep concern on March 6-9 over the violent incidents in Syria’s provinces of Latakia and Tartus, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,000 people, primarily civilians.
Brazil has condemned the use of violence against civilians, offering its condolences to the families of the victims and urging all parties involved to exercise restraint. The country reiterates its position in favor of a peaceful and inclusive political transition, respecting Syria’s independence, unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Despite the dire situation, there are no reports of Brazilian nationals among the victims. The Brazilian Embassy in Damascus remains in contact with representatives of the Brazilian community in Syria and maintains a 24-hour consular hotline (+963 933 21 34 38) for emergency situations.
