In a statement released on 12 Apr 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced Cambodia’s commitment to enhancing regional security and cooperation through its participation in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) process.
As part of its efforts to promote peace and stability in the region, Cambodia will continue to play an active role in ASEAN’s efforts to address shared challenges such as terrorism, transnational crime, and cybersecurity threats. The country’s commitment to regional cooperation is evident in its participation in various ASEAN mechanisms, including the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).
Cambodia has also been actively engaging with other regional partners, including China, Japan, and India, to strengthen bilateral relations and promote economic cooperation. The country’s strategic location at the heart of Southeast Asia makes it an ideal hub for regional trade and investment.
The Ministry emphasized Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening its ties with like-minded countries and international organizations in the face of emerging global challenges. In this context, the Ministry announced plans to strengthen its partnership with the United Nations and other regional organizations to address issues such as climate change, human trafficking, and pandemics.
In a clear statement, the Ministry reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to contributing to regional peace and stability, emphasizing that the country is committed to working together with its neighbors and partners to build a more secure and prosperous future for all in Southeast Asia.
