Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with the Union Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar

On 14 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held discussions with H.E. U Tin Maung Swe, Union Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, during the latter’s official visit to Thailand from 13–14 July 2026.
The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and close ties between the two neighbouring countries. Both ministers expressed their commitment to maintaining regular dialogue and strengthening bilateral cooperation across a wide range of mutually beneficial areas.
Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in border security, combating drug trafficking and transnational online scams, promoting trade, investment, and cross-border connectivity, as well as addressing shared environmental challenges, including transboundary haze and water pollution. Both sides underscored the importance of continued cooperation in tackling these issues to support regional stability, sustainable development, and the well-being of people in both countries.
The ministers also exchanged views on recent developments within ASEAN. The Myanmar side expressed appreciation for Thailand’s constructive role in promoting dialogue between Myanmar and ASEAN, while supporting efforts toward peace, national reconciliation, and regional cooperation.
Following their bilateral discussions, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow accompanied H.E. U Tin Maung Swe to Government House for a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand.
The visit reflected the shared commitment of Thailand and Myanmar to strengthening bilateral relations, fostering practical cooperation on common challenges, and contributing to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
