The United States has congratulated the people of Lebanon on the successful February 26, 2025, vote of confidence for the newly formed government. In an official statement, Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce commended Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and expressed support for his administration under the leadership of President Joseph Aoun.
U.S. Calls for Strong Governance and Economic Reforms
The U.S. emphasized that Lebanon has long faced political gridlock, depriving its citizens of a functioning government capable of addressing the country’s deep economic and institutional crises. “For too long, the Lebanese people were denied a governing body that could unite the country and rebuild its state institutions,” Bruce stated.
