The U.S. emphasized that Lebanon has long faced political gridlock, depriving its citizens of a functioning government capable of addressing the country’s deep economic and institutional crises. The formation of a new government is seen as a crucial step toward national stability and economic recovery.

“For too long, the Lebanese people were denied a governing body that could unite the country and rebuild its state institutions,” Bruce stated.

The U.S. reiterated its commitment to working closely with Lebanon’s new administration, urging swift and comprehensive economic reforms to address:

Financial instability and banking sector reforms
Corruption and governance challenges
Infrastructure and public service improvements

Continued U.S. Support for Lebanon’s Security and Stability

The United States reaffirmed its support for the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), a key institution in maintaining national security and implementing the cessation of hostilities in the region.

The U.S. will also work with international partners to help Lebanon achieve sustainable economic growth, enhance democratic governance, and restore confidence in state institutions.

A New Chapter for Lebanon?

While Lebanon’s new government faces significant political and economic hurdles, the formation of a cabinet with parliamentary confidence signals a potential turning point for the crisis-hit nation.

The United States will continue to monitor Lebanon’s progress on reforms and strengthen diplomatic and economic ties in the pursuit of long-term peace and prosperity.
