The conversation centered on the importance of preserving Syria’s institutions and essential services while ensuring protections for civilians, particularly vulnerable populations. Secretary Blinken reiterated U.S. support for an accountable and representative Syrian government led by Syrians. He also underscored the necessity of facilitating humanitarian aid, preventing Syria from becoming a hub for terrorism, and ensuring the secure destruction of any chemical weapons stockpiles.
