Thailand’s International Cooperation Efforts Gain Momentum at the United Nations

In a significant development, Thailand’s Director-General of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Mr. Chulvat Narinthrangura, played a key role in the 22nd Session of the High-level Committee on South-South Cooperation (HLC) on Sustainable Development at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

During 27-30 May 2025, TICA’s Director-General participated in the meeting to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation among developing countries and promote sustainable development through South-South cooperation. The event aimed to follow up on the implementation of the Buenos Aires Plan of Action (BAPA) for Promoting and Implementing Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries.

TICA delivered a Country Statement during the General Debate, highlighting three key points: first, Thailand’s commitment to advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through South-South and Triangular Cooperation; second, promoting the use of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) as a key driver of development cooperation; and third, reaffirming Thailand’s strong commitment to promoting South-South and Triangular Cooperation based on mutual trust, shared vision, and mutual respect.

The Director-General emphasized that these principles are crucial for turning challenges into opportunities and supporting the achievement of the Buenos Aires Plan of Action, paving the way toward a more sustainable shared future. TICA also encouraged all partners to make full use of platforms such as the South-South Galaxy and the South-South Cooperation Connector as channels for exchanging knowledge, best practices, and successful project outcomes.

Thailand’s involvement in this international forum demonstrates its dedication to promoting sustainable development and cooperation with other nations. As a key player in regional and global affairs, Thailand is committed to advancing its foreign policy objectives while fostering stronger relationships with like-minded countries.

This development highlights the importance of South-South cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promoting economic growth, social justice, and environmental sustainability.
